Facilitated by: Shelby Megeff
The RoundTable is an exciting approach that stimulates incredible conversation and insight around the topics and trends impacting our discipline.
We read aloud the RoundTable Guidelines and this session's article for about 15 minutes. Then for the next 45 minutes, we offer everyone in attendance equal time to share their thoughts and experiences on or around the topic. Come explore with us!
NOTE! Please download and print the article, or view in browser, for your use during the session (link above).

Inoculating Your Leaders Against the Mind-Heart Disconnection Virus
Charles M. Jones
A previously unrecognized cognitive-emotional virus is spreading through organizations, impairing leadership at every level. This virus severs the vital link between mind and heart—diminishing a leader’s ability to think rationally and empathize compassionately.
When this virus takes hold, it impairs critical functions like decision-making, psychological safety, conflict resolution, and accountability. Leaders become reactive, avoidant, emotionally distant, and less effective at navigating complex interpersonal dynamics. The cost to culture and performance is profound.
Session Description
In this engaging 60-minute session, you’ll learn a powerful coaching technique you can use to help leaders free themselves from the virus infecting their thinking and behavior. You’ll experience this technique firsthand and explore its application to your own leadership and the leaders you support.
Learning Objectives
Bonus: Attendees will receive access to an online diagnostic tool they can use to assess the virus's impact on their team and receive targeted eradication strategies.
