Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Learning: Practical Applications and Considerations

Artificial intelligence (AI) has rapidly emerged as a force in higher education, raising important questions about teaching, learning, and academic integrity. Students are increasingly using AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and others for everything from brainstorming to drafting assignments. Meanwhile, faculty are exploring how AI might enhance their practice while grappling with concerns about its impact on critical thinking and authentic learning. This session examines practical approaches to integrating AI into teaching and learning.

Join us for AI@Work, an interactive conversation with Rob Pusch, a faculty in the Instructional Design program in the School of Education at Syracuse University.

In this session, Rob will:

  • Explore examples of AI-integrated course activities and assignments
  • Examine student perspectives on AI use through feedback data and reflections
  • Consider frameworks for developing transparent, educationally sound AI policies
  • Discuss strategies for helping students use AI as a learning tool rather than a shortcut
  • Ask participants to reflect on their own contexts and next steps for thoughtful AI integration
